I wish it were so simple. Unfortunately, streaming education into most homes would not work – both parents are working to make ends meet, and you also lose the benefits of learning collaboration and teamwork skills, not to mention other potential challenges. And, it is not just that class sizes in some districts are over 40 students (could you imagine being in a room with 30 or 40 kindergarteners or even 3rd graders of differing abilities and trying to teach them something…), it is that there is no more gym, art, music, counselors, or librarians. Supporting these initiatives will stave off further cuts, this is not THE solution — it is the next step we must take to save CA and the future of our children. But, again, these are short term strategies. Join Educate Our State and help us work toward long term strategies that work for our state and our children – take a look at our platform and see what you think! We understand your frustration, and we hope soon we are talking about more interesting challenges. Thank you, Katherine
